2024 ICAP North America Regional Conference

February 19-20, Birmingham, Alabama

The Journey Back:

Reclaiming identity and purpose in trauma-informed care

a conference for practitioners doing anti-trafficking work

Our stories shape and influence every dimension of our daily lives and relationships. Knowing the impact of our stories and finding the redemptive work within them is vital for emotional, relational, and spiritual health. The conference will go beyond the popularized movement to “know your story.” It will be an invitation to truth-telling, healing lament, deep soulfulness, and lasting change. Content will strengthen practitioner’s capacity to holistically engage the consequences of harm expressed through nuanced beliefs, behaviors, symptoms, and patterns of relationship. Space will be carved out for attendees to gain a fuller understanding of the intersections of their work and their own stories as a starting place for developing awareness and practices that steward well-being in relation to their work. Attendees will be given permission to explore how the goodness and pain in their lives has shaped them and their purpose of caring for survivors of commercial sexual exploitation.
